Upkeep and Repair – H.O.M.E.

The Upkeep & Repair Program is designed to assist low-income senior homeowners aged 62 and older living primarily on the south and west sides of Chicago. This program offers affordable repairs in critical areas such as electrical, plumbing, and carpentry, allowing seniors to maintain safe living conditions in their homes. Participants only pay a $25 service fee and are responsible for materials, while H.O.M.E. covers labor costs. Eligible homeowners must earn no more than $1,200 per month. For more information, visit the Upkeep & Repair Program page.

Weatherization Program – H.O.M.E.

The Weatherization Program aims to improve energy efficiency and reduce utility costs for low-income seniors in Chicago. The program enhances home comfort and safety by providing essential services such as window insulation. It focuses on households where seniors are at risk of health issues due to inadequate heating and cooling. This initiative not only supports residents in maintaining a safe living environment but also helps alleviate the financial burden of energy expenses. For more details, visit the Weatherization Program page.

Small Accessible Repairs for Seniors (SARFS) – City of Chicago

The Small Accessible Repairs for Seniors (SARFS) program offers essential safety, security, and accessibility enhancements to help seniors continue living in their homes. Repairs focus on minor improvements, which may include grab bars, lever faucets, door and window repairs, and detectors for carbon monoxide and smoke. This program is available to Chicago residents aged 60 and older who earn no more than 80% of the area median income (AMI). While homeowners qualify, renters are ineligible. Delegate agencies assist with applications and conduct on-site assessments. Proof of age, income, and ownership is required at application.

For more information, visit the SARFS program page.
